The Kiss of an Enemy

An enemy can also kiss.

“Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭14‬-‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This monetary exchange between Judas and the chief priests was where Judas exchanged his soul for 30 pieces of silver. This exchange changed Judas identity from a servant of God to a thief that wanted to rob Jesus of God’s glory.

“While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.” Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him. Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.” Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭47‬-‭50‬ ‭NIV‬‬

After Judas sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, he kissed him to signal that he wanted to destroy him. Jesus knew what was going to happen and entrusted His life in God’s hands.

This tells us that there are people who can use the appearance of loving someone close to them but really in their heart is the intention of deceit and destruction.
